Global Stakeholder Initiative (GSI) is a multi-company, multi-year initiative enabling the world's most valuable companies and brands to anticipate corporate and supply chain controversies, reduce risk, build trust, and drive leadership in corporate citizenship.
The program focuses on four key issue clusters:
and is tailored for various sectors such as the Extractives and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
This program covers existing and conflict areas in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, and the Americas covering multi-country, multi-industry, multi-stakeholder issues related to the environment, human rights, labor rights, product stewardship, infrastructure and poverty.
Companies that are already partners of our 2007-2008 China phase of GSI include the world's largest beverage, computer, electronics, home improvement, financial services, and retail enterprises. NGO partners span all the core issues of GSI. As we expand the program, the GSI will be preparing for the COP 15 Copenhagen climate negotiations in December 2009, the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, China and the World Cup in South Africa, the 2012 and 2014 Olympic Games in England, Canada and Russia, among other major world community events, as natural gathering points for stakeholders to raise issues and pursue actions.
