To institutionalize continually improving, strong water stewardship practices up the supply chain by building relationships between a wide range of stakeholders.
We are cultivating constructive dialogue between companies, NGOs, socially responsible investors (SRIs) and foundations on today's most pressing water challenges.
Water is impacted at multiple levels of company supply chains, and companies across sectors recognize they will benefit by reducing these impacts.
Through nearly two decades of experience, we know that by finding common ground between impassioned advocates and other stakeholders and the private sector, we can drive sustainable private sector water policies and practices. Consensus on such solutions can then inform regulatory development that institutionalizes the new leading standards industry-wide.
On July 12-14, Future 500 convened more than 30 key stakeholders – brand and technology leaders, farmers, NGOs, social investors, and foundations – at Charting New Waters: Agriculture, the Supply Chain and Conservation Policy. These thought leaders engaged in a healthy dialogue on the issues agriculture faces, and came to a consensus on key policy goals.
The convening was made possible through the generous support of the Packard, Walton, and Bechtel Foundations, and our hosts, Johnson Foundation at Wingspread.
Two working groups were established as an outcome of the convening: one to focus on policy and the other on the supply chain. As part of the next phase of the initiative, these groups will be led by the Washington DC based NGO, RESOLVE. Future 500 will continue to play a key role in both working groups, in particular focusing on outreach on the supply chain work.
