Biographical background
Sheila Oviedo joined Future 500 with a professional experience in research and analysis as well as journalism, and an academic background in international development. Before joining Future 500, she managed the regional information services for a global emergency assistance company out of Singapore, and advised corporate and non-corporate clients on political and social risks in the Asia Pacific. She has also worked as a staff analyst at the National Security Council of the Philippines, conducting policy research and analysis on governance and development issues. She began her career as a newspaper reporter and contributor for various local and international media in Manila. She recently completed her MS in International Affairs program at the New School in New York, where she conducted research on business and human rights. She also has an MA in International Relations and Strategic Studies from Lancaster University in the United Kingdom and a BA in Journalism from the University of the Philippines. She writes on sustainability issues at the Global Policy Innovations, the online magazine of the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs.
