KELLEN KLEIN | Director
Unofficial Title: Mr. Quality Control
Words to live by: "If you're not at the table, you're on the menu." – Unknown
Karaoke song of choice: "How Will I Know," by Whitney Houston
A matchmaker at heart, Kellen loves connecting people from across the sustainability spectrum who might not otherwise meet. He’s spent his professional career driving collaboration at the corporate-NGO nexus, and has deep experience leading engagement and sustainability initiatives for businesses across sectors.
Kellen prides himself on being an “expert generalist,” and knows the ropes – and the influencers – on everything from water stewardship to the circular economy, materiality to conflict resolution. His favorite thing about working for Future 500 is the entrepreneurial environment, where bold ideas are welcomed and the team is constantly evolving to the needs of society and stakeholders.
When he's not busy building connections and common ground, Kellen's also the Future 500 team go-to for tech support, quality assurance, and unsolicited movie quotes. He dreams of living in a world where international travel is carbon neutral, sour beer has zero calories, and total strangers regularly break into perfectly choreographed musical numbers.
Prior to Future 500, Kellen spent time supporting Kaiser Permanente’s environmental stewardship initiatives and advising Conservation International’s corporate partners on climate change mitigation strategies. He currently serves on the Advisory Board of Social Impact 360, a mentorship-based training organization for young social entrepreneurs on college campuses nationwide.
Kellen holds a master's degree from the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a BA in Human Biology from Stanford University. In his free time, you’ll find him exploring local parks with his wife and daughter, and slowly renovating the old farmhouse that they own in Portland, Oregon.
