AGENDA
Future 500 launches the 2027 Force for Good Forecast I Future 500 Team
From the data center explosion to climate retrenchment, business leaders are navigating a constellation of ever-evolving and inter-related issues. In this session, the Future 500 team will share our 2027 Force For Good Forecast, highlighting the key stakeholder trends that we believe will affect companies in the coming year, equipping companies to “see around the corner” into the emerging environmental and social interventions that civil society may expect from corporate leaders in 2027 and beyond.
Emerging Legal and Social Movements and What They Mean for Business
Grant Wilson, Executive Director of the Earth Law Center
Environmental law is changing from the ground up, and much of the next decade’s legal changes will come from movements many boardrooms are only starting to track. This session will open with a global survey of ecological law trends, from China’s ecological civilization agenda and Latin America’s rights-based protections for nature to Wales giving future generations a formal voice in governance. It will then focus on North America, where federal rollbacks are fueling a counter-movement: state and municipal governments expanding environmental law and policy, environmental rights litigation, Indigenous-led campaigns to protect sacred lands and waters, and even corporate law innovations that bring nature into governance. Drawing on what law schools are teaching and what the brightest students want from their careers, Grant Wilson of Earth Law Center will offer his perspective on where the legal field is heading and how this shift will impact companies in the coming years.
